Global Conference: The Zambia Catholic University Co-Hosts International Beyond Borders Conference

The Zambia Catholic University (ZCU) is proud to be one of the co-hosting institutions of the international Beyond Borders: Advancing the Sustainable Development Goals Through Transdisciplinary Action Conference, a global platform that will bring together scholars, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, community leaders, and students to explore innovative solutions to some of the world's most pressing development challenges. The conference is being organized in collaboration with Boston University School of Social Work, the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, and the University of Zambia.

Scheduled to take place in Lusaka, Zambia, from 14–17 January 2027, the conference will provide an opportunity for participants from across the globe to share research, best practices, and transformative ideas that advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As the international community approaches the 2030 SDG deadline, the conference seeks to examine progress made, identify emerging challenges, and shape discussions on sustainable development beyond 2030.

The conference embraces a transdisciplinary approach, encouraging collaboration across diverse academic and professional fields. Key thematic areas include climate justice and environmental sustainability, migration and human rights, health and education, inclusive societies, human security, and digital transformation for social change. Through keynote presentations, panel discussions, workshops, paper presentations, and poster sessions, participants will engage in meaningful dialogue aimed at developing practical and evidence-based solutions for communities worldwide.

As a co-host, The Zambia Catholic University is honoured to contribute to this landmark international event, reinforcing its commitment to academic excellence, global partnerships, research, and community engagement. The conference reflects the University's mission of fostering knowledge that serves society and promotes social justice, human dignity, and sustainable development.

Researchers, practitioners, students, civil society organisations, and development partners from Zambia, Africa, and beyond are encouraged to participate in this unique forum for knowledge exchange and international collaboration. 15th Graduation Ceremony

The Zambia Catholic University proudly invites graduates, their families, alumni, partners, and distinguished guests to the 15th Graduation Ceremony, to be held on Wednesday, 29 July 2026, at the Graduation Square in Kalulushi under the theme, "Growth and Expansion for Academic Excellence and Sustainability."

This landmark occasion will celebrate the academic achievements of approximately 140 graduates who will be conferred with undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications from the Faculty of Business, Faculty of Education, and Faculty of Social Sciences. The ceremony represents the culmination of years of dedication, perseverance, and academic excellence, while reaffirming the University's commitment to producing competent, ethical, and service-oriented professionals. The Zambia Catholic University warmly welcomes all members of the University community and the public to join in honouring the accomplishments of our graduates as they embark on the next chapter of their professional and personal journeys.

Opening for the New Semester

The Zambia Catholic University is pleased to welcome all new and returning full-time students for the July 2026 Academic Semester, which officially reopens on 13 July 2026. The reopening marks the beginning of registration, academic preparations, and a range of key University activities designed to ensure a smooth and successful start to the semester. Students are encouraged to complete their registration within the prescribed period and settle all outstanding financial obligations to gain full access to academic and student support services.

The July 2026 academic calendar features several important milestones, including orientation for first-year students on 17 July 2026, the commencement of classes on 20 July 2026, and the University's 15th Graduation Ceremony on 29 July 2026.

New Student Portal

The transition from EduRole to AcademiX marks a significant step forward in enhancing the digital experience for students at the Zambia Catholic University. The new AcademiX Student Portal, accessible through https://zcuni.edu.zm, will serve as the University's primary platform for online registration, academic records, and student services.

Compared to EduRole, AcademiX introduces a range of enhanced features designed to simplify and improve the student experience. These include secure online fee payments, a mobile-friendly interface for easy access from smartphones and tablets, and a fully integrated e-learning system that brings learning resources and coursework into one platform. Students will also benefit from automatic GPA tracking, system-generated invoices, improved tracking and management of exemptions and academic approvals, and clearly defined programme and course pathways to help them monitor their academic progress more effectively. Together, these improvements provide a more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly academic management system.

Student Exchange Program in The Czech Republic

As part of the Erasmus+ KA171 partnership between The Zambia Catholic University and Palacký University Olomouc in the Czech Republic, several students undertook international study exchanges lasting between six months and one year. The programme provides students with valuable opportunities for academic enrichment, cultural exchange, and global learning experiences.

Staff Internal Week

Olomouc, Czech Republic - 12th Jun 2026

Two staff members from The Zambia Catholic University participated in the International Week hosted by Palacký University Olomouc in the Czech Republic from 8th to 12th June. During the visit, the University also explored the establishment of a Department of Special Education, aimed at strengthening support services for persons with disabilities through inclusive teaching, learning support, and specialised academic programming. Their participation strengthened institutional partnerships, fostered international collaboration, and provided valuable opportunities for knowledge sharing and the exchange of best practices in higher education, teaching, and research.

August Residential School change of date for the resumption of classes

Due to the national elections scheduled for 13th August 2026, the opening dates for the August residential school are likely to be adjusted to allow both students and staff adequate time to participate fully in the electoral process and exercise their civic rights without disruption to academic obligations. This adjustment is being considered in recognition of the importance of national participation and the need to ensure that academic activities do not conflict with key national events.

Any changes to the academic calendar will be subject to the approval of Senate in line with the University’s governance procedures. Once ratified, the revised dates will be formally communicated to all students and staff through the University’s official communication channels. The University is committed to ensuring timely and transparent communication, and all affected stakeholders will be informed of the final decision by 15th June 2026.
